the warmer spring temperatures, the trout bite has been excellent!
Catching limits of trout on almost every trip out. I don't foresee
it slowing down any time soon. The fish are into their spring
pattern, and we are catching on soft plastics and live shrimp. We've
been wading and drifting to catch them. Picking up a few good size
reds when tide is above average along sand, grass shorelines. Using
lots of crab and more crab. The weather has been great and is
staying warm, so let's go fishing. Give me a call! Lots of dates
open so far in April and May. Look forward to hearing from you.

Finally, the winds, weather, tides, water, bait fish, finger
mullets, and last but not least the REDFISH all cooperated at the
same time. This week redfishing has been easy. Even with all the
weekend boat traffic the fish were hungry. We caught reds ranging
from 24 1/2' to 27 1/2'. All the fish were caught using live finger
mullet. The redfish and puppy drum have been fairly easy to catch.
I've seen lots of them being brought in as well as we've been
catching lots of them. The puppy drum have been biting on fresh dead
shrimp. As for as a certain area they are really scattered and you
might find one or two here and one or two there. South Bay is a
great area to start out in because it has been producing along with

Spring is officially here and the flounder giggin is AWESOME!!
We have been giggin nice sized flounder in 2-3' of water
around reefs and drop-offs. My customers have been getting
limits of flounder relatively quickly with some sheepshead and
drum mixed in as well. We have had a couple of late cold
fronts come through our area dropping the water temperature to
around 68 degrees. This has had the fish scattered out a
little bit, but I predict within in the next couple of weeks
the temperature will start climbing and the flounder will be
everywhere!! If you have never tried flounder giggin I highly
recommend you try it. First timers and kids are always
welcome. There is nothing better in this world than getting
your kids outdoors with you and enjoying our natural

to all. With April approaching we will see warmer waters and a
increase in Redfish activity. April last year was red hot for
Redfish. This year should follow the same pattern. I'm starting to
see menhaden popping in the channels. Which means schools of redfish
should be right behind. Look for these fish in the flats in 1-3 feet
of water. I'll be using fresh menhaden, perch and sea lice. April
will also show and increase in trout activity. Soft plastics with
and 1/8 once jig head will be working. Also shrimp and a popping
cork is very effective. Black Drum will also be in and around in
April using live or dead shrimp. As the water heats up in April. The
fishing will be heating up. Come on down and take advantage of what
April has to offer.

The wind has been howling lately, therefore, not a lot of people are
wanting to fish. Not only has the wind slowed people from fishing,
but I believe the economy has kept people from spending excess
cash...if there is such a thing as excess cash. Every action has an
equal and opposite reaction. In other words without a lot of traffic
and pressure on the water there are more fish to be caught. When
these bays turn from chocolate milk back to normal, then, you better
be ready for some fish catching. Lately we've caught of a lot of
fish, both Reds and Trout, but you'll catch 5-8 Reds to get 1-2
keepers. Your Friends and Family will catch 20-30 Trout to get 10
and that is about to change. Use Popping Corks with live shrimp in
the pot holes and Pin Perch "free-lining". The fishing is good when
the wind is not howling 35 -40 mph. and its beginning to calm down
some now. I'm advising as hard as I can the fishing is about to bust
wide open! Call me! I'll inform you if it is, or not, but again

Spring break is over at this time. We've had lots of fun with the
kiddos, watching them catch reds and a few of the big drum. One of
the 8 year olds said catching the big drum was like pulling in a
Volkswagen. Sure had lots of fun with the families that came down to
enjoy Spring Break. While cruising the flats we've seen several
small schools of reds and they're moving around from one area to the
next. One day they'll eat finger mullet, the next day cut mullet and
then finally cut shad. Keep a little of everything and you should be
able to get your limits. Trout have been found scattered in
different areas. We found some on the outside of Traylor in the
deeper water. Artificials have been the best bite. Down South Lures
keylime has been our go to lure rigged on 1/8 screw lock jig head.
Popping cork with live shrimp has also proved successful. Move
around and don't stick to just one area.

week of spring break fishing kicked things off well for this spring
fishing season. My clients limited on their redfish fairly easy
every day but one. I was also able to find a few black drum to add
to the box on a few days. April is now here and I'm looking forward
to some spring time fishing with the awesome weather this month
brings with it. I always seem to find lots of redfish this time of
year in the flats making for a short boat ride with lots of rod

Spring is early seeing a lot of small flounder in the 12/13 " range.
Some nights gigging 7/8 keeper size flounder and a few sheepshead
and drum and then other nights 13/15 flounder and a few sheepshead
and drum. The biggest flounder we gigged was 21" about 3 1/2 pounds.
The average size are 15/18" not bad for this time of year. The fish
are really thick that's a good sign for the rest of the year. The
trout are plentiful with a lot of under sized ones. When your
into them you'll have to weed through them. There are big ones mixed
in with them. The reds are scattered some big fish here and there.
Sheepshead are on pilings and small gas rigs in the bays free line
shrimp should work just fine.

GREAT FISHING... HAPPENING NOW!!!
March fishing was fantastic
with limits of nice heavy trout being caught. April is poised to be even
better. The early spring has brought warm temperatures and warmer than
usual water. The trout bite is excellent drifting over mud close to shell
reefs. We have been most successful with live shrimp under popping corks.
Soft plastics are excellent as well. We are having some success with
larger trout using DOA plastic shrimp using a slow to medium retrieve.
Once you have caught your trout move on to catching some nice redfish. The
Redfish bite has been a little later in the morning. We are catching nice
Redfish close to grass with live shrimp and cut crab. After catching your
Redfish you can try for some black drum. The The drum bite has been really
good with peeled shrimp fishing on the bottom in muddy areas. We have
found a 1/4 ounce egg sinker above a 16 leader to work the best. If your
using life shrimp you may just pick up a nice flounder or two. Get out on
the water and have some fun. Until next month may you have Following Seas
and Tight lines.

Hello Everybody, How do you like this weather? We have a few small
frontal systems passing through and keeping the water level and
temps up and down. Some days are easy limits of red fish, and some
days I have to work very hard for some fish. Regardless, the time
spent on the water is very special and nice. The weather does not
get much better overall. Cool and not too hot. The days of limits
are very nice, with the oversize fish mixed in, and the days of
almost limits are a product of enough bites. On these days you can
not miss too many fish. That is as honest as I can be!

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
The big storms we received during the middle of March had the bay
turned upside down for a few nights. When the thunderstorms rolled
off and all the freshwater that was pouring out of the low-lined
areas finally reached the banks, the water was absolutely filthy.
The gigging was extremely difficult. Once everything settled down,
the gigging turned on dramatically - with lots of flounder holding
on hard sand in water from 4 to 12 inches deep. The flounder are
good size, averaging 2 pounds. Our recent gigging trips are taking
about 3 to 4 hours to gig a 20 fish limit. We have seen very few
drum and sheepshead. There are tons of little fish out in the bays.
Every night I have counted around a hundred 12 inch flounder.

Whoo doggie fishing has been superb. During spring break I had the
pleasure of fishing a lot of kids , and it was a blast watching them reel
in some line stripping redfish. I had this one young boy trying his
hardest to reel in a rather large red and while fighting him he was
smiling ear to ear ; while reeling he was losing his strength and before
you know it the reel was upside down and he was laughing even more. He
finally managed to bring the redfish in and I netted him. That young man
was so proud. This is what it's all about. He is now hooked on fishing.
Recently I had the pleasure of fishing 4 women and they had a blast

April is here March went by very quick but the same weather pattern
should continue strong south east wind's with each front that
approaches the Pan Handle of Texas but with more warming conditions
as the bay water heats up the fish will start to hold in the shallow
water feeding zones. The windy conditions makes it easy to target
redfish because we are hammering them using crab, mullet, perch,
live shrimp, dead shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp throwing in
cuts, shallow sandy bottoms, and shell reefs. The windy conditions
helps the drum bite that are grabbing our dead shrimp and gulp on
shallow white sandy bar bottoms and shell reefs. Trout are just
about biting on anything we throw at them live shrimp, dead shrimp,
artificial lures, and gulp fishing cut and shell reefs so call me

Its been a hard month, with wind ,storms, and more wind, but a
few brave souls ventured out with me to chase after some
flounder. Some nights were good and others...well you just
can't control mother nature, a combination of full moon and
tides kept the fish deep and when that happens, you do the
best you can. Last night after the moon went down and
the tide came up ,we limited out on nice size flounder,
fishing out of Port Aransas, we passed up a lot of 15 inch
ones and only went after larger ones, like to protect the
small ones for next years stock, our conservation on flounder
is putting fish back in areas they haven't been in years!
Redfish and drum are still being caught in front of Rockport,
some folks have been catching them in front of the Fulton pier,
