Hi everyone February is here so fast wow Spring is around the corner
with warmer weather for the Spring Breakers to break from College
and schools letting out so come break your arm on some awesome
redfish because my anglers are struggling trying to getting these
fish throwing mullet, crab, live shrimp, dead shrimp artificial
lures and gulp into edges of shell, sand bars, shoreline, and edges
of channels. My anglers are sinking the hooks on nice fat trout
throwing live shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp on to reef edges,
grassy sand bottoms, channel edges and deeper mixed shell soft
bottoms. The nice schools of drum are giving my anglers the time of
their lives trying to get these hook strikers into the boat throwing
live shrimp, dead shrimp and gulp over mixed shell sandy bottoms,
shoreline edges, and channel edges. My anglers are being hook shakes
trying to get this flopping flounder in the net throwing live
shrimp, dead shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp around sand bar
areas, channel edges, shorelines and hard shell mixed bottoms. So
come sink your teeth into some fun action stuffing the cool with
fish to bring home thanks and have a awesome month.

Hello South Texas! There are plenty of fish out there! we have
been getting limits of small to medium sized fish every time
the weather allows us to venture out. Sheepshead are beginning
to show and there will be plenty of large ones, that's because
it's coming on mating season, this one of the best times of
year to get flounder, drum and sheepshead. Lot's of Redfish
and drum are being caught, around the channels and in certain
(holes) up on the flats, give me a ring and let's go get some,
I remind you all that we have several novice flounder guides
on the goggle pages now, and I know they are using face book
,etc. to lure people in, they are only learning themselves, so
choose a guide ,older and wiser for your fishing trip. If it
seems too good to be true it probably is....
Come find out for yourself, why flounder gigging is so awesome
and if you're thinking about catching some Redfish, Speckled
Trout or Black Drum....I'm happy to help you catch these fish
too and well be using fresh dead shrimp to get the bites! I
have some honey holes good during this time of year, so give
me a ring and lets go tear'em up!

As we finish up on duck season, the last weekend in January,
February we turn our sights to fishing. While the winter weather has
been rather calm, the reds and trout have been biting and are good
on soft plastics while wading. We are also catching reds and drum,
out of the boat while fishing on the bottom. February can be an
exciting month if you don't mind the cooler temperatures and lower
tides. So, if you're ready for a winter adventure give me a call.

Happy February everyone. Spring is almost here. We are experiencing
winter tides now and it is an excellent time for fishing. The edges
of the channels are clearly defined so the drop offs where the fish
hang out are easy to find. Fishing these drop offs will pay off.
Cast your live shrimp, mullet, cut crab or your favorite lure and
you are sure to come up with nice Redfish, Trout, and Drum. If you
start early while it is still cold fish the deep side of the drop
off and work way up to shallower water as the day warms up.
Wade fishing the flats on warm days casting lures can be very
productive. With all you fishing this time of year remember to be
patient and fish slowly. Once you find some fish stay with them.

2-1-2017: Cooler weather is
still here, tides are finally lower and the redfish are in the
flats. We've been targeting the deeper guts along the flats in
Aransas area throwing cut mullet and having fairly good days. For
trout were using shrimp under popping corks on the edges of the same
flats and getting a lot of smallies with the keepers in the lower
slot sizes. Last week we went down and waded King Ranch shoreline.
Started off using Gamblers in the key lime flavor and after having
only limited success, we switched up and went to Corkies. Those of
us using pumpkin with chartreuse had the most successful and getting
them in the Upper slot. Nueces Bay is still my favorite place to
wade this time of year and with the lower tides it'll be game on.
I'll still be using a variety of soft plastics, mostly those with a
splash of white or chartreuse. We'll see how it rolls for us in the
morning. Get out and hit the reefs.

2-1-2017: Normally this time of
year I'm doing more duck hunting than fishing because of the cold,
but this year has been crazy warm for the most part and the fishing
has been good because of the water still being fairly warm. Not real
cold at least. For the last few months its been more like fall
conditions rather than dead of winter! I've been able to catch
limits of redfish fairly easy most days. Ive also been seeing good
numbers of trout coming to the dock as well which usually doesn't
happen too much for January. Come February, and the end of duck
season, my fishing comes to an abrupt halt because i will be leaving
to run my hog and javelina hunts until mid march. If any of you are
interested in this kind of hunt let me know, I'm sure i can work you
in on some dates. I offer unlimited hogs, 1 to 2 javelinas, and all
the varmints you care to shoot. No hidden fees!
And you can hunt at night! I will be returning home to fish

Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on

redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
2-1-2017: Fishing has been
on and off depending on what the wind is doing. Lately we have
had a lot of north wind due to the cold fronts blowing in.
During the windy days we stay on the flats fishing for
redfish. The shallower water on the flats has been our Target
as the wind stirs up the bottom and provides more for the
redfish to feed on. Since redfish feed primarily by smell we
are using peeled shrimp and cut pen perch for bait. On calm
days days we go for trout usually on the shell reefs if the
water temperature is not too low. If the water temperature is
low we fish along the deeper channels. Here the trout find
more favorable temperature conditions because of the deeper
water and the softer bottom. Another choice would be to go for
black drum. There have been some schools of black drum along
Corpus Christi bayou, yucca channel, Allen's bight, and the
sailboat Channel. Use peeled or unpeeled shrimp for the black
drum. Whatever you do take a break and get out and do some

Hope everyone is having a happy new year. Well as I reported in my
previous fishing report I am building a new boat. The boats
dimensions are as follows: 24'-80 " with a custom welded hull, a 150
4-stroke Yamaha and a 35 hp Briggs and Stratton PLUS it also has LED
underwater lights as well as LED above lights. It should have
plenty of power and lights. Current completion time April maybe May
so please be patient as these builds take a lot of man hours (not to
mention money) to create a flounder gigging machine!!!
Flounder gigging has been great now that the tides have finally
dropped-out. With low tide conditions the fish should be
concentrated in cuts draws and bends. There's still live shrimp
around at the bait stands and fishing reel slow on the bottom works
well try the back of harbors free line shrimp or put a split-shot on
and reel slow...you'll feel a hit and set the hook!!!
Move around and you can find them where there's moving water.
Warmer temperature water is what you look for. The flounder
are showing up in the 15-17' range I'm sure their are bigger ones!!
They might be down deeper or I haven't seen them yet low numbers of
sheepshead and drum that should change in the coming weeks. Thanks
for looking in and I'll start posting pictures of the new boat as
soon as I can.

Proudly Serving the Texas Coastal Bend Areas

Well it was an AWESOME year for Flounder Giggin in 2016 to say
the least. December brought many flounder back to the dock in
the 4-6lb range and some BIG flounder in the 8-9lb range!!
Pretty much all of the big female flounder have made their way
out of the bays and into the Gulf of Mexico now. This is the
time of the year where we will be gigging the smaller males.
The flounder have been staging in back bay areas over hard
sand and grass in pot holes. There have been many nights in
the past couple of weeks where it takes a little while to find
the flounder, but when you do they will be in good numbers
(usually after a warming trend). The male flounder are in the
15" - 18" range and make for some very good table fare. Trips
lately have been running from 2-4 hrs. Also, we have bringing
back some really nice size sheepshead and drum!! From January
till the middle of March the drum and sheepshead will be THICK
with some flounder in the mix as well. With the Winter Time
Flounder Run over now, we are gearing up for the Spring
Flounder Run that will take place roughly around the second
week of March.
~ For all of my Bow Hunters out there, NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOK
YOUR TRIP!! With the numbers of drum and sheepshead so high
right now, it makes for some easy pickings!!

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
Howdy Folks! The flounder gigging around the Port Aransas & Rockport
area has started off on a strong foot for 2017. The flounder during
this time of year are smaller fish, around 15 - 16 inches. The
perfect size for stuffing or grilling. The gigging has been
"fast-action" right at dark, then tapering off as the night goes on
and the water cools down. I have been moving around a bunch in the
area - leaving from different docks, depending on the weather.
During north winds, I have been fishing over in the Rockport area
with lots of flounder holding on soft, mud bottom in about a foot of
water. I have also been gigging around the Port Aransas area with
the low water that we had during the beginning of the week. It lead
to some easy picking on the flounder, with most of my fish hanging
around shallow flats adjacent to deep water. There are very few
black drum or sheepshead right now. I still have plenty of
available dates during February. If you are coming down to our area

Hello To Everyone, As I have been saying for a long time the Duck
Season should be phenomenal this year and believe me it is. I was
out with a friend checking and setting decoys a few days before the
"second half of the split season" started. I literally stopped my
Air Boat and watched the Ducks flying because of how amazed I was of
how many thousands of Ducks there were. I don't remember seeing that
many Ducks in 15-20 years. Needless to say my 4 guys limited out
quickly on Red Heads and then we went fishing for the rest of the
day. On that day, the "Cast and Blast" day, they had 8 Red Heads
ducks, 1 Merganser duck, 3 Reds Fish, and 20 Trout-18-22 inches. The
day before, Friday 12/09/2017, it was not Duck Hunting
Season...YET!!! But we did catch a lot of good thick fish: 15
Trout-18 to 22 inches, and 2 big Red Fish. One of the Red Fish was
27 3/4 inches and the other Red Fish was 32 1/2. Please contact me
