It is pretty simple...it is HOT as in WEATHER and the fish are deep!
The Trout are hitting on Piggies and usually "the bite" is over
around 9:30am to 10am. When that time of the morning rings the bell
so to speak the Trout shut off light like a light switch. We then go
Red Fishing with the same Piggies and fish them in the potholes. I
have also found cut mullet works great too and the fresher the bait
the better. If you have live mullet try cutting them up and casting
them. Like I stated "its pretty simple" fish early morning because
the catching is a little easier and its cooler. Please contact us
and "lets go catch you some memories".

hot out but that hasn't slowed fishing down any. We've been fishing
in the Upper Laguna the last few weeks and getting our trout fairly
early in the day. Throwing piggies has worked best while doubling up
with the smaller ones. Working the grass lines has proven to get the
best results. Take plenty of bait as there are smaller trout in the
mix. We've been getting mixed boxes of trout with a few reds and a
flounder or two as well. The surf has been producing good limits of
trout as well on days that we can get out there. Using croaker has
given us the best bite. Start on the 3rd gut and work your way in.
Getting a few reds and a shark or two is fairly normal.

Well another summer has come and gone. I can't believe as i write
this report that this coming weekend will be Labor Day! With school
starting back there will be a lot less people on the water for sure,
and the daytime temps should start to being a little cooler.
September also usually brings some rain and better tide flow here on
the coast which all equates to better fishing, or as I like to say,
better catching! I will still be hammering the redfish, but I also
have a good chance at finding and staying on some black drum hanging
around the waters I typically fish.
I still have some dates open this month, so if you would like to book
a trip -
give me call and we'll go stretch some lines!
next time remember when the cards are down and the bet is called,
you still have your ...

9-1-2016 Floundering has been
fantastic with many limits and real good numbers of Sheepshead and
drum. The size of the flounder are 15-20" the Sheepshead are 6-8
pounds the drum are scattered every once in a while we get 5 most of
the time one or two a trip. Been seeing good numbers of reds
sometimes on the flats, other times on the drop offs in deeper
water. The trout are plentiful with good numbers being caught on
Crocker and shrimp try the small oil rigs and large ones in the
bays. The cold fronts should be rolling in and bay water
temperatures will be dropping that means bigger flounder drum and
Sheepshead as well as better numbers. October is a really good time
to flounder! Weekends are booking up fast so book now!

GREAT FISHING... HAPPENING NOW!!!
Fishing has been excellent, the early morning
and late afternoon trout bite is producing good stringers of trout,
fishing live shrimp close to shell reefs. The mid-day trout bite is still
best with live croaker, free lined in two to three feet of water. The
redfish are being caught on live shrimp next to grass - this provides
plenty of action, but for bigger reds, try live finger mullet, cut mullet
and cut crab. The black drum have started their return to the bay's and
are being caught on peeled fresh shrimp next to oyster reefs. Are you
planning a trip to Rockport? Plan ahead and book your trip now. We are
rapidly approaching the best fishing months, Sept, Oct and November. Our

Hello Everybody, September should be outstanding. Trout are plentiful
everywhere and they are eating croaker and piggy perch. They should
continue through August hopefully on into September. Red fish are a
little different story for most, but not all. they are eating piggy
perch, pin perch, mullet and just about anything else you put in
front of them. The reds will only get better as the water heats and
there will be scattered fish kind of grouped together making limits
very possible. Basically fishing is excellent and should continue in
this manner through October. Do yourself a favor, come down to the
Texas Coastal Bend - enjoy some of the finest fishing anywhere!!!

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
Hot water temperatures have made for some very tough flounder
gigging. August has been one of my worst months to gig - due to the
fact of the hot water temperature and normal tide levels. I have
been making a lot of moves to every night, early in the night, in
hopes to find limits of flounder. Lately, I have had to hit ten to
fifteen different spots on certain nights. We have only had two or
four fish in the boat by 11pm. I believe that the fish always come
up later in the night to feed once the water cools off some, but
especially when our water temperatures are staying in the 80s. I
wish I could leave the dock around 11pm every night this month. For
example, the other night I had a gigging trip of five people - we
only had four flounder in the boat by 11:30pm. We gigged the other
twenty-one fish by 12:45am. It has been taking around five hours to
gig a twenty fish limit. There are still some sheepshead around to
gig and very few drum. Book
your trip NOW! Open dates available during late August or September.

Wow September is here school started summer is over fall meaning
hunting season will be coming up that is wing hooting at dove and
early duck blue and green wing teal shorter day light hopefully
cooler weather with fronts coming in to play because the heat this
year has been intense l am ready for some cool down it would be nice
to happen early but with this heat the fishing has been awesome this
year with the good rain we have been getting in the past it helps
makes the bay salinity levels less so the fish thrives on this tipe
of water because the trout are hammering croaker, piggies, live
shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp throwing on sandy, grassy edges,
shell reefs, channels, cuts and shorelines working in about the 3 to
4 foot areas. Redfish are just about braking our rods pulling them
in with mullet, perch, crab, shad, live shrimp, dead shrimp,
artificial lures, and gulp. Nice schools - site casting on
flats, back lakes, shell, shorelines, and cuts throwing in about 1
to 3 foot range of water. Nice schools of drum site casting at them
they're take the lines out using live shrimp, dead shrimp,
artificial lures and gulp they are moving in the shallow 1 to 3 foot
flats, cuts, channels edges, shell reefs, back lakes. We are still
in hurricane season so when booking a trip I will keep an eye on the
Gulf of Mexico and fronts that might make it down here creating bad
weather for you so if anything like this comes up I will call you to
make sure you can pick the best awesome trip catching fishing

South Texas! Fishing has improved over the last few
weeks. Limits of flounder are back and the fish are getting
nice and fat! Recently I had a trip with 2 young men from
Dallas, and we limited on flounder in less than one hour! Big
change from 2 weeks before when I went over the same shoreline
and got one fish. What's happening is the rain and recent
weather has cooled the water off up shallow, so the bait
returned and so did the flounder, come get some! Red fishing
is also improving, but with most catches in the early morning
or the late evening, this is A typical of late summer behavior
and best bait is live finger mullet or pin perch, peel the top
fin off your perch, the little bit of blood from that will
attract the redfish and they will swallow it whole. Use a
Carolina rig with a slip weight and target the sand holes.
Copano bay is still trashed and there is no clear water,
however it seems to be where the black drum are hanging out
and there is still trout on the wells out there, use live
shrimp under a cork, when available.

9-1-2016: As we
transition into the month of September, the fishing should continue
to be great. Moving into cooler temperatures, the numbers of red
fish should go up. Right now we are still catching limits or near
limits of trout on piggies and croacker. Currently catching
scattered keeper redfish but they are harder to find. The best
results lately have been wade fishing for reds. So, if you are
looking to bring the family down or a group to fish for fun, give a
call. Fishing is always better during the week and still have a few
days open in September. Looking forward to hearing from you.

MORE BIG FISH GUIDE SERVICE
Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
Trout fishing trout fishing still remains good on the shell reefs in
Aransas Bay. With bay water temperatures approaching 90 degrees we are
fishing some of the deeper areas and channels that hold some cooler
water. The bait of choice for the trout have been live piggies. The
redfish are scattered around on the flats. Most of them are just
barely keeper size being in the 20 to 23 inch range. We're using live
Piggies for them as well while anchored on the grass flats. We are
also drift fishing with live piggies on the flats for redfish. We have
not been able to find the larger schools of redfish that are moving
offshore. That means the smaller fish that are not in a school are
widely scattered so drift fishing allows you to cover more territory.
The weather should cool down here in a few weeks and fishing should be
a little more pleasant so give me a call or send me an email and book
yourself a trip for the fall fishing.

to all. September brings a little cooler weather. A lot of you will
be pulling out the old shot gun and bows for hunting season. But
don't put those rods and reels away yet. The trout bite remains red
hot. The trout continue to be good on piggy perch and croakers free
lined in 4 to 5 feet of water with limits coming in steady. I
haven't been throwing any artificial bait as of late. But on a clam
morning you may want to give a topwater a try. This slight cool down
will also bring a strong Redfish bite. Higher tides will be coming
in this month and a lot of Redfish. I'll be throwing piggy perch,
pin perch and mullet. Fish water 1-3 feet in the pod holes and
around reefs. September will also bring less boat traffic. Don't
