11-1-2014: The tides are continually
high right now and the redfish still seem to be hiding, catching a
few here or there but not finding any good schools. With the water
up like it is, try the back lakes in several different areas.
Also have had customers want to try their hand at galftops this week
and man, they are biting like crazy.

Fall fishing has arrived! The cool fronts that have pushed through
has started to set the fall pattern. Fall is a great time to chase
redfish, black drum and flounder.
Redfish tend to stay in the shallow flats adjacent to deep water
they tend to start schooling in smaller pods. With the cool down of
the water temperatures the reds feed more aggressively I have found
that live finger mullet, cut mullet are my baits of choice but they
will also swallow. Your favorite topwaters as we'll.
Black drum are still schooling up along shorelines. They tend to eat
better as water cools also. Shrimp is bait of choice for the
schooling drum, but perch are still very bad eating the shrimp
almost immediately. This makes bait placement very important throw
right right were the school is "in session"!

BAYOU IS OPEN - LET'S GO WHERE THE WATER IS PRISTINE AND THE FISH ARE
November is a great month for me and my clients. I just had the pleasure
of fishing Scott Thomas and Tom Harper. We started off kinda slow but
stayed the course and the box slowly added up . We made a total of 4 stops
and the last was awesome. Managed a total of 5 reds and 10 black drum.
Pretty darn good !! After getting two limits of drum we continued to catch
& release a few more before heading in . When I finished cleaning the last
fish Scott replied " Why didn't we start the trip at our last stop " ?? He
then finished with a smile. Great guy and have been fishing him for about
10 years now. Remember that November fishing is normally

Hello To Everyone, The pattern for Red Fish still seems to me to be
somewhat spotty. The fish are there, but are a little slow to react
to your bait. Once they do turn on the game is crazy. Keep throwing
lively baits, Piggies, or Mullets, and leave it in the potholes as
long as you can. The Trout we have been catching are usually thick
and healthy. Again, keep throwing the baits and have patience...the
fish are there just waiting to feed. Please contact us and "lets go
catch you some memories".

- Hey There South Texas Giggers and Anglers!!!
Were getting our fish every night with a few big ones now , water
clarity gets better when the wind calms and also some sheepshead
showing as I had promised before ,unfortunately, by the time the run
starts we will be shut down from gigging flounder for 30 days.
Be ready to go however when December gets here! there will be 2
giant flounder and your large drum and sheepshead for the first 2
weeks and then after midnight on the 14th we go back to 5 fish , big
fish will hang around until after Christmas if we don't get a 3 day
arctic front, then a smaller population of fish will be around the
rest of the winter with a few big ones mixed in. Last winter I
hit good flounder all the way thru February so come get some and
remember dress for the weather.
News flash! Capt. Dan's
Flounder Rig has Entered the 21st century!
Yes, the boat is now sporting all new
LEDS on the top and underwater so that now we can see three times
farther and deeper than before! We can clearly see those
buried flounder and a side benefit is less strain on the electrical
system. God bless new technology, because now we are ready for
flounder gigging season more than ever!
BRING IT ON!!
Still have some good dates available and
remember November is closed so now's the time to go!
THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO GO, so get ready and come get some.
May your fishing
always be catching

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
Texas Giggers, The month of October has had me working pretty hard,
with the conditions of high tides and lots of wind. Most of the
gigging action has been happening from about dark till midnight, and
then tapering off. With very few cold fronts coming through, I
believe we will gig some nice flounder all the way through January.
I have been gigging my fish in the Flats from Rockport to Ingleside.
Most of the fish I have found are on hard sand and short grass
that's about 1 inch long, the flounder love it. The flounder are
averaging about 2.5 to 3.5 pounds. We are averaging about 5-10
sheepshead and a few drum as well. The past couple of nights the
flounder I have filleted are starting to show some egg sacs in them,
but still have a little way from being ready. It has been taking
about 6 hours to gig a 20 fish limit. That is pretty slow for this
time of year. There are lots of 10 inch flounder I have been
spotting. This flounder season was one of the best years I
have seen in about 4 years. I believe that next year will be just as
great or better. The flounder gigging will close for the month
of November. During December 1-14, there is a new rule that you will
only be allowed to gig 2 fish, and on the 15th, the limit goes back
up to 5. I will be running a special for those who want to go out
and gig some nice-size flounder during the first 2 weeks.

The weather is still nice, warming some, but cooler air is on the
way. Reds are in the flats eating Piggy and Pin perch. Limits or
near limits are still the norm with the occasional oversize fish
mixed in. Trout are here as well and they are still eating live
croaker and Piggy perch. Limits are the norm with fish up to 26
inches. Croaker work best over shell and Piggy perch best over
grass. Top waters such as Super Spook and Mirror Lure Top Dog are
also producing fish. Live shrimp is also an option. November should
see excellent times on the water with light boat traffic except for
possibly the weekends.

INTERESTED IN HUNTING?
We have had some great weather
here the last week or so, but it has hindered my catching abilities
somewhat. The redfish bite for me has been over by about 10am due to
the lack of wind, clear water, and bright blue bird skies. Fishing
in these conditions can prove a little tuff if you don't get them
early. I've been averaging 6-12 reds by approx. 10am then heading
off to try and put my clients on some black drum before we call it a
day. Most days I've been able to produce the drum as well, but even
they tend to take lock jaw about noon because of the conditions.
All in all I've been able to pretty much fill the box with a mixed
bag of 10-20 fish for my clients. November 1st opens up our
regular duck and deer seasons. I still have some dates yet to book
for my first split duck season which runs Nov 1-30. If you are
interested in hunting this first season give me a shout and we can
see what we can get arranged.

Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
Redfish is still the best bet here in the Aransas Bay area. We are
catching limits of reds on the flats. Drifting with live shrimp and
popping cork has been a good method. If you can get live piggies for
bait you should get some action on the grass beds. Were also using
frozen shad while anchored catching reds. Trout action has not been as
good as the redfish but were still getting some with live shrimp. The
water is still a little warmish for this time of year but when it gets
to about 70 deg, the action should pick up.
have openings for October/November& December... when the weather is cooler.
