like we are finally getting our Spring Tide. The water temperature is
rising into the low 70's. I just took a couple from San Antonio out and at
our first stop we boxed a couple nice redfish in the 25 inch range. Didn't
have anymore action so we made our way to another location. While drifting
up quietly to our spot I was seeing a few nice clouds of dirt coming up.
It didn't take but 30 seconds to have a rod bend and when she started
reeling I could tell that it was a real bruiser ; finally landed the fish
and it measured 32-1/4 inches. We tagged the brute and put him in the box.
We finished up our limits right there. Now is the time to get your trip

4-15-2015 With water temperatures in
the mid 70's April Has Been Redfish Hot. The redfish have been hot
in the flats with limits coming in daily. There biting on a verities
of baits. Pin perch, shad, shrimp and sealice. If you like to throw
artificials. Look for bait fish in the area. Start out by throwing
soft plastics with and 1/8 once jig in darker colors in 1 to 2 ft.
of water. The trout bite has been good. Trout our being caught on
live shrimp and a popping cork in 3 to 4 ft of water drifting over
shell and grass. Artificials our also working well. Throw top waters
early then switching to a 1/8 jig in pumpkinseed chartreuse or red
and white paddle tails. The weather has been cloudy and the rain had
been minimal. My clients have been saying to me how comfortable it
is on the water. If you want to get in on some great fishing then
give me a call.

Reds are in the flats and eating anything you put in front of them.
I am using pin perch and sea lice, but they are also eating shad,
finger mullet, and shrimp. Boat limits are common especially on
decent weather days. Oversized reds are also common with one to two
a day expected. black drum are in their usual places eating shrimp
(the school fish) and crab and sea lice for the oversize drum. Trout
are also beginning to show up in the Aransas area and believe it or
not for me the best bite has been on top water while wading. the
water and air temp is warming and the season is off to the races.
Beat the boat traffic and come down as soon as you can; you will
have a blast.

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
South Texas Gigging Fans! Spring is officially here!
Hey Gigging Fans, This year is flying by, already
mid-April and soon to be summer! My favorite time for flounder
gigging. Make sure to plan early and get your flounder gigging trip
reserved. The past couple of weeks we have had a few big rain
showers that are going to make the flounder gigging a lot better.
Eight days ago, we finally had one of the highest tides of the year,
it has been very low tides lately, making it a little bit tougher to
get out there and find the flounder. The water temperature is
finally climbing into the mid-70's - just what I was waiting for.
There is also lots of new sea life coming into the bays. It
has been taking my groups about five hours to gig a twenty fish
limit. We have been passing over lots of borderline flounder. We
have been finding most of the flounder on hard sand on the windward
sides of the banks. The flounder are still around the 14.5 to 16
inch range. There have been very few sheepshead and drum gigged.
There is lots of gigging action taking place at the coast, call now!

Well folks the
fishing is heating up from Rockport to Aransas Pass to Port Aransas.
We are finding good numbers of redfish and drum and some trout too.
Look for Black Drum along grassy drop offs and redfish in the
potholes up tight to the islands and near good tidal flow areas
using live bait and dead baits from shrimp, pin perch and mullet it
all seems to be working good. Look for glistening tails popping up
in 1' of water or less early morning or evenings are best. Live
shrimp under a popping cork is working for trout. I still have a few
days open for April and May so don't wait call and get you trip

MORE BIG FISH GUIDE SERVICE
Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
The tides have relatively high lately and with the high water comes
more fish. Redfish action has been good on sea lice and live shrimp.
There are lots of undersize reds around but were finding some larger
ones with them. Drifting the flats has been the best method on these
very windy days. Trout action is average for this time of year. Live
shrimp under a popping cork has given the best results. There should
be more trout soon on the flats as the water warms and stays high.
Reserve your trip soon for the summer!

Well we can officially say that Spring
is Here and the temperatures are warming up. I can also say the
fishing has been great as of the last few weeks. I am getting live
bait consistently now. The early spring rains and the water flow
through Cedar Bayou is helping fishing tremendously. I have been
catching good numbers trout with live shrimp under a rattle cork
drifting ,anchored , and wading on shell. The sand grass flats is
starting to produce good fish also wading and drifting. There also
have been good numbers of fish caught in the surf at cedar bayou on
plastic and dead bait on the bottom. If your looking to fish give me
a call. This time of year is really good. I have good dates still
left open in May and a few in April.

all the good rain we have been getting it helps the saltwater turn
into sweetwater for all the fish in our bays flats and back lakes if
we keep getting rain it will make the fishing will get better and
better we are seeing nice schools of redfish that have moved into
shallow flats and back lakes we are catching them on shrimp mullet
and crab. There are nice schools of puppy drum that have moved into
the flats and back lakes in 1 to 2 foot of water we are using
shrimp. Again with all the good rain this will help on the bait
fishery hatching earlier than the drought days this means that
croaker will be available for trout. The trout are good in 2 to 3
foot range on grassy mixed sand pockets fishing early morning for
trout noon for redfish and drum. Thanks. The fishing is good... come

Bay Fishing and Flounder Gigging have been great so far this
April! We have been finding many schools of redfish coming into the
flats already which means this spring and summer are going to be one
of the best year's ever! Remember that the fishing conditions in
April typically mean - moving around to find the fish, so don't get
stuck on one, single location. Just because they were there
yesterday doesn't mean they are there today. Although the cold
fronts have weakened significantly over the last few weeks, the
water temps are still cool - so be prepared to fish the drop-offs
near the flats... but for the most part, the Redfish will be holding
over shallow water around mid-day, getting some sun then dropping
back down to drop-offs during the night. Redfish this time of year
are picky eaters. If you're fishing bait, you'll find that one day
they want cut mullet, the next peeled shrimp. Live shrimp has been
working for specks along the edges of the ICW and drifting has
proved to be the best way to throw-your bait up against the banks.
Flounder have been plentiful but mostly seeing the smaller flounder
with a couple of nice-sized ones at night!
