GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
Gigging Fans, The flounder gigging this year has been one of the
best years I have seen in a while. With all the big rains that we
had back in May, it has just made the bays absolutely come back to
life. Every night that I'm out there I just can't believe all of the
sea life that is swimming in the shallows. I have not seen this many
blue crabs in many, many years. With the hard falling tide at night,
the gigging action has been one for the books. With the water
temperature in the low to mid 80's, I have been finding most of my
fish in about two feet of water over oyster reefs and hard sand.
This past month has been the first time this year that I have
started gigging them laying on shells. One night, I was just hopping
from oyster reef to oyster reef finding a 20 fish limit. It's been
taking about 3 hours to gig a 20 fish limit with most of the fish
ranging from 2 to 3 pounds and 16 to 19 inches long. We have also
managed to gig some drum and sheepshead on some of my late-night

Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
The wind has been blowing hard for days now and has finally backed off
some. I now look for some good trout action on the shell reefs.
There's still a lot of small trout on the shorelines. With less wind
we should be able to go about anywhere in the bay system. Redfish
action has been good on the flats. Were using pin perch and shad for
bait. The best bait for the trout has been croakers and piggy perch.

The trout bite is still holding strong with limits or near limits on
croaker. I also have been using some piggies now too. The trout have
been holding in four to five feet of water on sand grass shorelines.
The black drum have been schooled up and is a fun catch on dead
shrimp. I have been getting reds wading using plastics, croaker, and
live finger mullet. The fishing has been good as whole. If you want
to go fishing just give me a call. I still have some good days open
in August. I look forward to fishing with you.

the summer goes on. We are giggin limits of flounder in around

has been coming in pretty hard as the sun sets which is
causing the flounder to be on the move!! We are giggin a lot
of fish that haven't even completely bedded down yet which
makes them easy to see. Most of our fish right now are being
gigged over hard sand with a few down in the potholes. Book a

7-15-2015: I am fishing in Rockport for redfish trout
drum and flounder using Shimano poles and Shimano spinning reels
making it easy to learn and cast on your on. With the hot July
weather and low tides I am catching fish on the edges and drop offs
of channels flats lakes bayous and cuts because the water is hot and
with low tides there is no water in most areas so I am catching fish
in deeper water. We are reeling in trout in 4 to 6 foot of water
using croaker live shrimp and perch. Ours reels are zing with nice
schools of redfish in 1 to 3 foot of water they are biting on mullet
perch shade crab and shrimp. My peoples poles are bending on nice
schools of drum on shrimp. Flounder are fighting and biting on
shrimp mullet and perch. I am starting off early in the morning
catch fish in shallow water its cooler then when the heat turns on
the bite turns deeper. With no storms in the Gulf of Mexico the heat
and lower tides will continue. We are lucky to have the breeze
because with no wind it will just get hotter. With different moon
phases the tides will run lower than normal. Come cast and catch
fish have fun doing it hearing your Shimano reels zing and seeing
the Shimano poles bend.

Summer is in full swing and it is getting hotter every day. Trout
have holding tighter to the shorelines in 3 to 4 foot of water.
Freelining croaker has been working best. Start early as they'll
move deeper as the day heats up. Drum have been plentiful.
Work the edges of the shorelines and look for the schools. Once on
them, Free-line some dead shrimp into the middle and hang on. There
gave been a few reds mixed in with them. Be patient and be courteous
to other boats Fishing the same school.

Hello to all! The weather is heating up and so is the
trout fishing. Trout fishing is red hot with limits being brought in
daily. Look for the trout in 3 to 5 feet of water. Fish the grass
beds and structure in these depths. Bait of choice is a free lined
live croaker or piggy perch. I've been using both with good success.
The Redfish started showing up this week. These fish are in depths
of 1 to 3 feet of water. There biting on a wide verity of baits.
Live Piggy Perch, Mullet and Pin Perch are all working. Last week
tides were lower and plenty of Black Drum showed up. Fish for them
with live and dead Shrimp. In the summertime I don't throw
artificials when fishing. I give them what they want. Live bait. The
weather has been great. Mornings are cool and heating up as the day
goes on. Lots of water to drink and fruit is not a bad choice while
your on the water. Above all be safe and show your follow fishermen
respect when your on the water.

It's starting to get hot in Texas now since the rain has stopped. We
all still need the rain and I pray for rain to continue through our
summer. With it getting hot so is our bay water. Most of the fish
have moved to deeper water, or are closer to it for the most part
because of the warmer temps. Redfish have been good to great for me
because I've been on them early in the morning before they move off
the flats. Limits by 10am have been the norm for me. There are still
some trout showing up too, but you have to get an early start. Early
early early is the key to catching fish this time of year.

howdy it has been catching not fishing for myself and my clients. One
morning I polled the boat within casting distance of around 15 or so
redfish and in seconds of the bait piercing the water my client was hooked
up on a line stripper and after she landed it she sat down and said Tommy
stop casting so far from the boat. I smiled. Looked around and didn't see
the rest of the pod so on to next stop. Seemed like every time I stopped

We are still catching some nice box's of fish this week. We have
been catching almost all are keeper's from large schools due to
fishing pressure and low tide conditions they are schooled up.
I would start out checking drop offs close to deeper water Dagger,
Sunray, mud Island, and sailboat channel in redfish bay would be
some great areas to start. Dead shrimp has been bait of choice while
fishing the schools. Out of Corpus Christi if you start around bird
inland work south drifting the west spoils will produce some nice
trout. I have been getting them with soft plastics or throwing free
lined croaker. Give me a call at 361 463-6545 to reserve your next

Hello Everybody, Trout fishing is "spec"tacular with boat
limits occurring daily. Croaker is the bait of choice and the
occasional big fish is being boated as well. The weather has been
super. reds are in the flats but are a bit more challenging. One day
they are there and we do well and the next day poof they are gone.
Overall things are well as you would expect and boat traffic is
still light except for Fridays and Saturdays. Most guides still have
a few open days so give one a call and come to the Coast. I think
