Proudly Serving the Texas Coastal Bend Areas

The flounder giggin' has been ON FIRE!! We have had some
really high tides lately that have pushed the flounder to
areas that they are usually not found in. This has helped me
put my customers on some really BIG flounder as well as some
good sized drum & sheepshead. These above normal tide levels
have the bigger flounder pushed up into areas almost to the
waters edge. We have been picking off some 3-4lb flounder and
even had a few that were around that 5lb range!! The Aransas
Pass area has been holding some nice fish over hard sand. We
have been finding them way up shallow and holding in pretty
good numbers. A lot of fresh beds are being seen on a nightly
basis which means the flounder are really on the move right
now. We are also seeing a lot of smaller flounder in the 8-13"
range which means that our giggin' closure in November is
really working thanks to the Texas Parks & Wildlife.
boat should be ready to pick up from Kresta's Boats by the 2nd
week of May, and then I will still need to fully complete the
flounder conversion which may take an additional 2 weeks. So
I'm going to try very hard to have it completely ready for
some GIGGIN ACTION by the middle of June. With that being
said, Summer is right around the corner so make sure to book
your trip today!!

Croaker is in the bait shacks and the trout are showing up just in
time. Wading with croaker is bringing some solid trout and producing
some solid sizes and numbers. Hitting the shorelines in waist deep
water has proven to bring the most consistent bite. Reds are in
flats and moving around is key with the high water we currently
have. Moving around a lot has helped put them in the box while
waiting it out in one area has been the most productive. Baits we're
currently using is Shad, cut mullet and pin perch. It's been crazy
with the bait, one minute they're hitting shad and then they want
mullet the next. So keep a little of each and your day should be a

5-1-2016: For the last
couple of weeks we've been on some unusually high tides and the
catching had been awesome! These high water conditions are really
bringing in good numbers of fish and creating lots of current. I've
been limited on slot sized reds by 10am most mornings with a lot of
the fish averaging above 25"! In fact yesterday my clients had
boated 21 slot sized reds before 9:00am! I look for the fishing to
stay really good through June. I still have a few dates open in May

High tides, high winds... that's April for ya!!! Getting
limits every night I go out...lots of fish in the bays, everywhere
this year!!!. This is going to be a "Banner Year" as long as the
conditions continue as they are presently. Flounder are 15"to
18" in length, a few sheepshead here and there which are also fun to
catch - but some are under-sized. Throw them back and wait for them
to grow up!! But the drum are in full-force and picking up a
few of those on every trip as well. Trout are also showing-up
in good numbers hitting the rattling bobbers and shrimp. The redfish
are still a bit scattered up in the grass, but if you try
free-lining shrimp and using top water lures, you'll tempt them just
enough to take the bait and strike! May is a transition month
- just before summer yet cool enough to be part of spring..and the
winds start laying-down more at night - which means great flounder
gigging trips! The 2nd or 3rd week of May we'll see the
flounder start ramping-up, and I do mean a marked notice in the
numbers we'll be catching! My Fridays and Saturdays are
booking up fast so try to call ahead if you need a weekend night!
Of course as a year-round flounder gigger, You can book on Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday's too. Why? Those nights there is
less pressure on the bays (e.g. the # of tournaments and corporate
events usually take place on the weekend) meaning things are more
quiet and also more quality fish in the bays!

GREAT FISHING... HAPPENING NOW!!!
April was the epitome of
spring-like conditions on the water and for the fish too! May
is going to be a great month of fishing though! The early spring has brought warm temperatures and warmer than
usual water. The trout bite is excellent drifting over mud close to shell
reefs and they have "croaker" at the bait stands. We have been most successful with live shrimp under popping corks.
Soft plastics are excellent as well. The
Redfish bite has been a little later in the morning but we are still
catching nice-size reds! Using peeled shrimp is working well
for the drum. And if you're using live shrimp - you may pick-up a
flounder or two as they are moving back into the bays! Get out on
the water and have some fun this summer and until next month may you have

Hello Everybody, Reds are in the flats with boat limits common most
days. They are eating Shad, Pin perch and Mullet. Trout are here and
boats limits are common as well. The croaker are here but still a
tad small. The next 30 days will see stabilizing weather and fishing
only getting better. Both trout and reds will fall victim to the
many anglers. You should be one of them!

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
High Tides & Windy Nights! Our spring flounder run is now over. This
past month we have had very high tides - causing lots of flounder to
get pushed in the bays and flats during the strong tidal surges. The
incoming tides at night are bringing in clear gulf water into the
bays, and even with the strong winds, the water is staying crystal
clear on the flats. We are gigging solid fish every night. Most of
the flounder are averaging two pounds. We have gigged a few three to
four pound flounder also. To gig a 20 fish limit, it is taking us
about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Most of my fish have been laying on top of
hard sand that is usually dry land on a normal tide. We have seen
very few sheepshead and drum.

live shrimp and popping corks. There are a few trout showing up on the
shore lines where they will spawn we use croakers out there and they
are still a little small. Redfish action has been pretty good. Live
pin perch is the best bait we are using for Reds. We are also picking
up a few reds while drifting with shrimp and corks.

Woo doggie !!!! I had 4 clients just the other morning and had them meet
me earlier than usual to catch the bite. The full moon was out in full
force and I knew that the bite would shut off one hour after daylight and
the second feeding time would be around 10am or so . My clients had me
booked on a 4hr trip so we capitalized on it. The first hour we caught 10
redfish in the slot and one oversized. We hung in there trying to catch
the last two but the full moon did it's thing and the bite was over. AFTER
the 4hr trip was up then we went to the dock and cleaned our catch along

5-1-2016: May is already here,
that was fast! Time is going by and soon school will be letting out
for summer. Everyone will be taking vacations coming down to
Rockport. The weather is already warming up and that means the water
temperature will be getting warmer too. Also this month, the tides
for May run higher than normal - it's called a "bull tide" or
"spring tide" and it happens every year. The fishing has been great
recently and the redfish are ripping our lines in water. We've been
casting live shrimp, dead shrimp, and cut mullet fishing back lakes,
flats, and edges of shell reefs. Trout on the other hand, are
hammering live croaker, live shrimp, artificial lures, and Gulp
under cork targeting sandy grassy bottoms cuts, channels, edges of
shell reefs and outside shorelines pockets. Drum are thrashing the
water after our live shrimp and dead shrimp and finding good numbers
around the white sandy bars in the flats, shorelines, back lakes,
and edges of shell reefs. So come spend your summer vacation getting
a tan and fishing with me, having fun catching limits of fish so you
can have that big summer fish fry!! Thanks and have a great month.

were completely covered with sand and you could only make out
an outline with their eyes reflecting in the moon light...they
were some big fish! This has been the norm this year.
That's not all....the trout have been active and biting live
shrimp around the wells across from Rockport and in the Copano

showing up at the bait stands and in the bays too! The bites
really turn on for the trout when they are thrown live
croaker. Also there have been schools of black drum on
St. Joe shoreline directly across from Rockport. Redfish
have been good around the causeway between Port A and Aransas

even heard the guides out of Port A have been catching these
large redfish in the Lydia Ann Channel and in behind the
