MORE BIG FISH GUIDE SERVICE

Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.

Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on the Texas Gulf Coast.  Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures, Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.

3-2-2015: Fishing has been very good for black drum. Were catching them on the flats with peeled shrimp on a jig head. TROUT FISHING HAS BEEN GOOD AS WELL WHEN THE WEATHER PERMITS. Were catching trout with soft plastics while drifting. I believe that this will be a very good year for trout. There are redfish on the flats and were catching them according to the tide level for that particular day. We should be getting our spring tides soon and with it will be warmer water and more trout. Plan your fishing trip soon.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY MILITARY DISCOUNT FOR ACTIVE SERVICE PERSONNEL AND LET'S CATCH SOME FISH!

Active Military Always Receive 10% Discount!  Families with Children Always Welcome! 3-2-2015: Fishing and Flounder Gigging has been great so far in February we have been finding many schools of redfish coming into the flats already you can (see how shallow in some of my photos) from last few weeks. I'm confident 2015 will be a great year much needed rainfall created some much needed bait for the fish to feed on. Towards the end of 2014 I was seeing an abundance of flounder, redfish and trout fry, as well as juvenile fish much more then I have seen in the last 10 years by far.
For the month of March remember fish the conditions you are given for the day don't get stuck on a location. Just because they were there yesterday doesn't mean they are there today. We generally are still getting cold fronts so be prepared to go to drop offs near the flats but for the most part the Redfish will be holding over shallow water mid day getting some sun then dropping down to drop offs during the night. Redfish this time of year are picky eaters one day they want cut mullet the next peelled shrimp if you're fishing bait.

CEDAR BAYOU IS OPEN - LET'S GO WHERE THE WATER IS PRISTINE AND THE FISH ARE ALWAYS BITING!!!

Hi everyone." SPRING BREAK " is 9 days away !!!! March is usually a fantastic month . Looking back at my notes from past " SPRING BREAKS " . I pulled out my calendar from last year ( 2014 ) and recall one trip vividly. I had the Morrison family. Mike and his 4 kids ranging from 7 years to 13 years old came fishing with me and at our first stop of the fishing trip.  I had my hands full because we had 3 really nice reds on at the same time and dad was filming the whole fiasco. The redfish were taking these kids all the way around the boat. The problem wasn't three on at the same time but the fish took one around the bow and to the other side while another took one to the stern and around to the other side while the third young fisherman kept his on the starboard side of the boat. While I netted one of the bruiser's on the port side I looked back and one had reeled the redfish clear up to the tip of the rod. Fortunately I was able to get it before it could get off. Turned my attention back to the third smiling youngster and netted it. I sat down for a second and looked at the dad and he was smiling. He replied I got it on tape and I'm not believing it. I truly enjoy fishing with kids and seeing them smile.
If you would like to fish with me ; just call me or drop me a email...............
I ENJOY FISHING WITH KIDS. IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES WHEN MY DAD TOOK ME FISHING AS A YOUNG BOY TOO........

3-2-2015: As color begins to fill the morning sky, you sail your soft plastic through the crisp damp air. With a slight "plop" it lands leaving a small expanding ring of ripples as it begins its decent in the gin clear water. You twitch the rid tip gently, trying to allow the bait to stay in the water column a foot under the surface as long as possible. You notice a movement and work the bait one solid jerk then wait. It paid off, you feel the tell tail "THUMP" then a slow pull away as you rare back on your rod to allow the hook to do its job. Suddenly the water erupts in front of you as a behemoth of a trout breaks through the surface trying to free itself from a artificial bait it has been fooled into eating. In a few minuets of fury, she is in your hands and you hold the spoils of victory for a picture of a lifetime.  While no one can guarantee a stringer of fish, a successful day can be measured by good times, good friends, and stories that last forever.  Trout have been good while wading, redfish and black drum are plentiful for boat fishing. Lures are fair to slow on producing large numbers but can still provide a fun day of line pulling action. Live bait and fresh dead has been the best producers lately. Also, we are having great times catching and releasing oversized black drum lately. If your looking for a great time on the bay, give me a call. I still have a few days open in March, so lets go have some fun!

Come on down, spend a day fishing, and some quality time with friends and family.

3-2-2015: Hello To Everyone, Please read my March 2015 Article on Fishing, Hunting, being Prepared, and Picnics!!! Now for today's hot topic. Wherever you live the current weather changes have had to have a drastic influence on your outside activities. I know it has on me and my Family. Now with that being said, several years ago I played baseball for the Red Sox in Connecticut and Massachusetts and I still receive several emails from Residents of that area. After reading their comments of below wind chill factors, snow, etc., I believe I'll ride it out here and not gripe too much of our Texas "cold" fronts. Our temperatures will get better and better...and so will the fishing. Keep chunking live shrimp and mullet in the deeper pockets, watch the weather forecast, read my March Article (especially about being prepared), and please contact us for your next fishing trip..."lets go catch you some memories".
Contact me if you're interested in wading for Reds and Blacks.

On another note "Prime Red Fishing Time" is just around the corner, so why not book a trip or two, now!

3-2-2015  Hello to all!  The talk down here is the weather. We are still getting a few cold fronts down here. But on a string of warmer days the bite has been great. Redfish are still being caught on live and dead shrimp and pin perch. Soft plastics are also working for redfish as well. The trout our showing up and as we go into March it will just get better. Trout have been good on soft plastics and live shrimp with a popping cork. Either wade fish or drift. The Black Drum are biting on dead and live shrimp and sea lice. When the tide is low after a cold front big schools will show up and can be targeted. The oversize Drum are in the channels biting on crab and sea lice. The oversize Drum can be fun to catch, But are poor table fair. Spring Break is right around the corner, Hurry and take advantage of some Great Fishing in March!!
All looks to be shaping up for a great spring. Hope to see you soon!

The big bull drum is kicked off in full swing if you have not fought on of these big beasts they are really fun I have seen some reds moving around in the flats and also black drum the water temperature is still in the 50s so they are not biting really well I can guess when the water temperature warms up they will be like a fishing frenzy and I can't wait so that being said and a new boat lets go out and let's fill the boxes up with some good wall hangers!!!

3-2-2015:  Are you tired of this cold weather? I am!!! Enough is enough! The cool weather makes for some nippy days on the water. The fish do not seem to mind though. Reds are in the flats still eating shrimp, mullet, perch and small crabs. Some days they are in the lower slot and then some days the big ones come out with over size fish common. Trout are in various bays and still seem to be located on mud/shell mix. They are eating soft plastic with Corkies being a big producer. Like the reds some days they are box fish and then some days trout up to 30 inches are being caught. The next two weeks should see a warming trend in both air and water temperature. The flats will certainly being producing. Spring Break is around the corner and another season will be in full swing. After being cramped up all winter there is sure to be fun and excitement on the water.

FLOUNDER GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!

3-2-2015: Hello Gigging Fans! Spring is right around the corner and the flounder gigging should be should be great within the next week or two. The flounder are starting to filter back into the bays with high tides and gulf water temperature starting to get to the high 60's. The flat fish are starting to get some meat on their bones - ranging from 1.75 - 2.5 pounds, which tells me that the flounder gigging is about to turn hot and heavy after a slow winter. We are gigging anywhere from 8-15 flounder per night. If you put the time in and with the right weather conditions, should be twenty flounder per night. The sheepshead are still staying pretty strong, which is always the case for this time of year. The drum have been real slow, only able to pick up a few.
