to all. May has been and outstanding month for fishing. The trout
bite has been very good. Trout have been in 3 to 4 feet of water
around the shell and grass beds. All you need is some live croaker.
Free lining these baits will get you but. People throwing artificial
have been doing good. The boats that our drifting and wading have
been producing suggest using an 1/8 ounce jig in darker colors. They
seem to be producing better. The Redfish bite continues to be very
good. Tides are high making it easier to get to them in shallow
water. I've been using shad and pin perch live or dead with limits
coming in steady. The same artificial baits our working. Look for
these Reds in 1-2 feet of water. June will be a busy month. This is
the time of year that I stress to customers if they can to fish
during the week. From this point on every Saturday will host some
type of tournament. Boats will be everywhere making to harder to
fish multi locations. I know that a lot of people have to work. But
try and slip off a day earlier or say and extra day. This will make
for a better day on the water and a more enjoyable experience. If I
can be of assistance in a future booking please give me a call. Hope
to see you soon.

6-2-2016: Wind and Rain - they have been making the fishing in the
Coastal Bend a little bit tougher for the last few weeks, but when you
know how to fish in the wind and know what to look for - it's still
possible to find plenty of fish! This wet season won't last forever and
most days, the sun is out, temps are mild and the fishing is great! Make
plans to come fishing this month! Humongous trout are stacking up in the
surf over by Cedar Bayou as they do this time of year. They are hitting
top water lures and the Trout are in good numbers along Long Reef and the
shorelines of San Jose. They are also hitting croaker (Yes the croaker are
here in full-force now!!!) Mud Island and Traylor Islands also seeing
good-size reds and trout and a couple of nice flounder too! A customer of
mine caught a trophy-size redfish last week, while we were out in Estes
Flats - so the fishing is definitely heating up now!

Hello To Everyone! As I have written in the previous Fishing Reports
the Trout fishing has been excellent. For instance a few days ago on
one particular outing, I casts 9 times, with 9 different Croakers,
and caught 9 Trout that went from 18-22 inches. I released 4 and
keep 5 for supper. The very next day I took 3 clients that limited
out in just about 25-30 minutes and again the 18-22 inch Trout. The
fish are there...where are you? Nothing is guaranteed, but death and
taxes...But the Trout have been there, in great numbers, and should
remain for quite some time longer. Soooo....what are you waiting for?

The wind is blowing like a hurricane, the tides are higher than
normal but that hasn't stopped the catching. Croaker are the right
size and the trout are hungry. We have been focusing on the outside
of San Jose and Traylor. Look for birds working and start out in 5
to 6 feet of water. Work in slow and you should get your trout
fairly quickly. For reds, try up closer to the shoreline and
focus on the potholes where the bait is at. As it gets warmer
throughout the day, move to deeper potholes out in the flats. For
bait, we are using cut pin perch, cut mullet and fresh shad. We've
been getting limits on both trout and reds but you have to work for
em. Persistence will pay off.

6-2-2016: Fishing has really
been hot over the last month. Redfish have been great for me with
limits on the days that I've fished. Trout have also been good from

conditions to remain the same for June. School is out now and I

Much the same as last month
- limits every night. After record breaking rains in the area
fishing was off just a little bit. It took a little longer to get
limits in a little dirtier water than I like - but we managed to get
them!! The tides are settling down and the fish are out there in
good numbers. Looks to be an awesome year. Hearing good numbers of
large trout being caught and seeing some out at night up shallow.
Reds are scattered in deeper water. Try cut mullet or shrimp.
Croaker seem to be working best for the large trout! Don't
forget rattling bobbers - they are my favorite. Picking up 3-4
keeper sheepshead a night but still seeing a lot of under sized
ones. Drum are running fast and it's hard to pick those up
becuase the tides aren't quite right yet, but shouldn't be too long
now til we are able to gig them too!

Hello Everybody, What a month May has been! Outstanding catches on
trout and red fish. I am sure you know that trout are eating
croaking and red fish are eating mullet, perch and shad. June
promises to be a banter month. Normally the wind will stabilize
making traveling the water nothing but pleasure. Fishing will be
great with nice conditions. The trout will only get bigger and more
plentiful. The reds will show themselves in the miles of flat in the
Aransas area. June is probably my most favorite month to fish. If
your schedule allows you should not miss out on the upcoming month.
You will be glad you spent the time on the water!

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
High tides & high winds! Flounder gigging down here in the
Aransas Pass/ Rockport area has been on fire this year. With limits
of flounder coming in every night and lots of bigger fish up on the
flats for this time of the year. With the higher tides the past few
years it is really starting to take a toll on the small islands up
on the flats with some of them almost completely gone by the wave
action causing them to erode away. What used to be a little stream
of water cutting through an island is now a 14 feet wide cut with a
ton of current roaring through uprooting every thing in its path. In
my 19 years of gigging down here the pattern of flounder changes
every year. There are a lot newer spots holding fish up on the
flats. But one thing for certain that the flounder love moving water
for them to ambush there prey.

MORE BIG FISH GUIDE SERVICE
Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
Its been an off and on early season on the bays. We have windy days
and some calm days. However the calm days are not usually on the
weekend when most people want to fish. If you're lucky enough to get a
calm day with clear green water when you go now is a good time to be
fishing the shorelines for spawning trout. Most any shorelines in the
open bays that have grass beds will be a good choice. If you're using
live bait then croakers should be the most productive bait. If you're
using artificial lures try the fish imitation lures such as
Mirrorlures for larger trout. Soft plastics are also a good choice but
you will probably catch smaller trout. Wadefishing is a great way to
fish the grass beds because its quiet and you can cover more
territory. If your fishing day is windy then I would suggest staying
on the flats in shallower water rather than the open bay shorelines.
Here is where you are likely to get some redfish action. If you can
find "fresh shad" that's what I would suggest using for bait. Cut the
bait in half and use the head portion on one rod and the tail section
on another rod. Many times reds prefer one end over the other. Live
pin perch is another good choice. I like to fish them both with a 20
or 30 lb. leader and no weight. Just the hook and the bait. I would
suggest anchoring up and fishing from the boat here. I wouldn't try
wading on the flats as many areas are very boggy. Hope you can get a
chance to fish!

Hello everybody. Boy howdy fishing has been awesome !!!! On June 1st I had
the pleasure of fishing Jimmy Spiller and his two young son's . After we
made it to our fishing hole ; I told them we would probably start off
catching 2 or 3 hardheads before we caught our first redfish and after
that we would start off by catching one red and within 10 minutes we
should hook another redfish and eventually it would be a redfish as fast
as the bait hits the water. Thank God I was right because I had two young
boys that I fished last year for the first time and they were hoping I was
right and these line stripping reds didn't disappoint us . We had our 3
limits and one oversize in less than one hour. I took them afterwards to
find some black drum but darn it they were gone. The young boys were happy
and I know the dad was quite pleased. I enjoy fishing our up and coming

6-2-2016: The month of June
already - WOW that means schools will be out for summer that means
fishing vacation fun on the water so come fishing because it is a
low tide month that's if no storms develop in the Gulf of Mexico
that can bring up the tide because extremely higher tides scatters
the fish giving them more water to swim in when lower tides confines
the fish that means less water so they will fall of into hole, drop
offs, channels, ditches, and cuts making it easy for us see because
the water is red with so many redfish they are slamming our mullet,
perch, shade, crab, gulp, dead shrimp, and live shrimp we are
slamming them on the edges of shell reefs, holes in the flats, cuts,
outer shoreline, and channel edges. Trout are jumping after our
croaker, live shrimp, artificial, and gulp we are having two and
three on at a time hooking up on trout fishing the shell reef edges,
hard white sandy shorelines mixed with grass, channels edges and
drop offs. Gray blobs of drum are churning the water after our live
shrimp, dead shrimp and gulp fishing shorelines, cuts, drop offs,
shell reefs edges, and holes in the flats. So come join me in some
rod bending, drag singing, and fish pulling around the boat action
packed fun summer vacation fishing thanks and have a great month.

South Texas! This has been one windy month! We have been
out, and the fish are large, but because of weather the
numbers have been down that we are gigging. Hopefully with the
arrival of June things will straighten up as we go into summer
mode, I for one am looking forward to a fun summer , and
everyone will get lots of fish as soon as we are past all this
transitional weather, should be over soon.
Trout are getting pretty big and I'm hearing croakers around
the wells are the best place to go,early in the morning when
the sun comes up and then by 10;30 the bite is mostly over.
There is also trout across from Rockport and some groups of
drum too, shrimp live on a popping cork is best.
Redfish are showing up behind Island Moorings in Coyote cut,
large numbers of keepers over there behind Port Aransas,
mullet is the best bait, especially live small ones, they are
just beginning to show up and will be good all summer in that
area behind Port Aransas and the East Flats.
Have fun everyone and be safe....

May coming to an end, hopefully the rain and wind will be slowing
down. Although there's been lots of rain the fishing has remained
good. Catching limits of trouts on croaker and soft plastics. Fish
have been in water depths of 3-4 ft., catching them in the middle,
wadding, and from the boat. With good solid trout numbers, the bite
has been consistent. In the higher tides, the red fish and black
drum have been scattered. Hopefully the tides will recede soon and
push the fish back into the bays instead of the back lakes.
Hopefully with June around the corner, we will begin rolling into
our summer patterns and some good fishing trips to the Bayou. So, if
you are interested in a trip, adventure on the waters of the coastal
bend, come on down! Still some days left to book in June and July.

6-2-2016: TARGETING REDFISH
Redfish are known by the epic pound for pound, drag-pulling fight
that leaves many avid anglers in a state of addiction. Redfish are
generally regarded as more difficult to find and catch than speckled
trout, which only adds to the addiction. There are a few basic
things that you need to know before going to chase reds. If redfish
hear/see you they will stop feeding. Signs to find redfish are
slicks, mud boils, scared bait, and birds working fast. You always
want to pair these signs up to find fish. My personal favorite sign
of feeding fish are birds working low, and hard across the water.
Things you should avoid doing while hunting redfish are slamming
boat hatches, stomping on the deck, dropping things on the boat, and
playing loud music. Learning to find and catch redfish
consistently takes a lot of time, patience, and persistence. It can
even be downright frustrating. Don’t get discouraged because
learning this skill is no easy task. Hiring a good guide to take you
out for reds can help you put it all together. One of my favorite
things about being a fishing guide is putting someone on their first
redfish because it is usually one of those things you never forget
and it’s very satisfying for me to be a part of that. To book a trip
