OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2019 FISHING REPORT

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR LODGING IN ROCKPORT-FULTON, THEN LOOK NO FURTHER!  I have a great apartment that will sleep up to 6 comfortably with a full kitchen so no worries on were to eat. I just want to say please come and support your local fishing guides as this storm has been hard on all of us. Visit my website to see photos of the cutest cabin in Rockport!!

Still waiting for the cooler weather to begin blowing in, however the fishing has still been great. With the higher tides, the red fish bite has been outstanding on cut mullet and live shrimp. Black drum have been numerous with live or dead shrimp on the bottom. The trout bite has been slower, but we’ve been transitioning from croaker to live shrimp or plastics, and I expect it to get better with the cooler water temperatures coming soon. So if have an opportunity to come down in October or November we still have dates open. During the week is always better. Come on down to the coast where time slows down and memories are made.

Remember that fishing is year-round and we fish weekdays, but keep in mind that weekends fill-up fast!  Book your trip early!!

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2019 FISHING REPORT

I’m still waiting on that first cold front of the year! It’s been really hot for the last couple of weeks and I have not been on the water due to a surgery I had performed back at the first part of September. I’m looking forward to getting back to work October 15 once I’ve been cleared by my doctor.  I’ve noticed that the water has been quite high here lately though when I’ve been out of the house. Hopefully it’ll stay kind of high through October.  I really like fishing high water! Lots of people cuss it but I don’t! You just have to know where to go when you are faced with different kinds of conditions. The weather man said we should be getting a front in around the first weekend of the month. I sure hope so! Not only will it cool things off, but it should also turn the fish into their fall patterns just a bit, and let them know winter is on the way which always equates to full fish boxes. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.On another note, duck season is just around the corner starting the first of November and running until the end of January. I’ve got some open dates for those of you that like to hunt ducks, or may want to try it out for the first time. Be it beginner, or the hard core hunters, we’ll get it done. I also offer cast-N-blast trips where we hunt and fish all in the same day!

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2019 FISHING REPORT

A FISHING TRIP MAKES A GREAT GIFT ALL YEAR LONG!  ASK ABOUT OUR GIFT CERTIFICATES – OFFERED YEAR-ROUND!

High tides and big reds! The redfish action has finally showed up big time after a couple weeks of spotty redfish action. The high tides that we have been having have literally pushed the redfish into territory that is normally fished by airboats!

Redfish follow the tides because the farther bait is pushed into the grass the farther a redfish will go to find food. The areas that we are fishing that are normally 14 inches deep of water are now 22 inches deep! The farther you go back into back lakes the bigger the redfish because they are able to stay away from boat traffic unlike the redfish that are in the paths of boats. Redfish have been biting on chunks of cut mullet and a cut live mullet. Now the secret to cutting a live mullet is leaving his tail on but only getting it to where he bleeds and also break the back bone so they can barely swim. Throw your baits right along shorelines where the wind is blowing the water to the shoreline.

The key to success is throwing the bait out and letting it sit there till either a redfish takes it or a perch does then a Redfish will come by and scoop that bait up and start taking drag!  Hope this helps everyone and happy catches to you!!!  JUST CLICK THE LOGO TO VISIT OUR SITE!!!
