LODGING AVAILABLE – NICE AND COMFORTABLE!  CALL FOR MORE DETAILS:  361-688-6459

Hello Everybody,

June has been overall exceptionally windy.  July and August should fall into place and get with the summertime pattern.  Come on wind–get your act together.  Croaker will be the bait of choice for trout unless piggy perch show up.  As of this writing no Piggies to be found, which is weird in and of itself.  Trout are still thick as thieves and will still your bait if you are day dreaming or on your cell phone.  Reds are in the flats eating anything you put in front of them.  The next two months will be awesome and catching will continue to be fantastic.  Give your favorite guide a call and get on the water.

WE CAN OFFER YOU LODGING – ASK FOR MORE DETAILS!

Hello To Everyone,

A particular group I took out the other day strictly wanted to Red Fish, which we did.  Also, we did not wet the first line till almost 10am.  I threw a net for fingerling mullets, caught a bunch,  and that was the ticket.  The Reds were cruising for that size and hammered ‘em.  I got into the water and slowly moved the my boat along as quietly as I could.   I would, at the right spot, anchor down, and tell them where to cast.  My clients caught a lot of “Rat Reds” (too small), but eventually we got into the “keepers”.  It did take a while, but the Reds were there in about 3 foot water.  Fingerling Mullets in about 3 foot water was the answer.   Please check the weather, book a trip, or two, and “let’s go catch you some memories”!

Thank you,
Captain Lanny Phillips

JULY/AUGUST 2019 FISHING REPORT

July is a sunny month so be prepared we hydrating drinks and Summer clothing because the fishing is happening. The trout are hammering the croaker fishing shoreline in deeper drop-offs and shell reefs.  Redfish are pulling the drag chunking live shrimp 🦐, mullet, dead shrimp 🦐, shad, and crab targeting shorelines and shell reefs. Nice schools of drum are bending the poles tossing live shrimp 🦐 and dead shrimp 🦐 working shorelines and shell reefs. Reeling in flounder with live shrimp 🦐, mullet, dead shrimp 🦐, and shad. If you want to join me on an awesome fishing trip catching reds, trout, flounder, and drum call me before that spot gets filled. Have an awesome safe Summer with your family and friends thanks.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR LODGING IN ROCKPORT-FULTON, THEN LOOK NO FURTHER!  I have a great apartment that will sleep up to 6 comfortably with a full kitchen so no worries on were to eat. I just want to say please come and support your local fishing guides as this storm has been hard on all of us. Visit my website to see photos of the cutest cabin in Rockport!!

As the winds finally start to subside, we are in full swing of summer trout fishing. Catching limits or near limits of trout daily on croaker. The red bite has been intermittent but when catching they’ve been biting on cut mullet, skip jack and croaker. Black drum on dead shrimp or fish bites on the bottom has been the most successful. If your looking for the bigger fish, then they’ve been biting when wading. I still have some open dates at the end of July and into August so look me up if you’re wanting to book a family getaway, a corporate trip, multiple boat trip, or wading expedition. Give me a call or text for more information.

Remember that fishing is year-round and we fish weekdays, but keep in mind that weekends fill-up fast!  Book your trip early!!

JULY/AUGUST 2019 FISHING REPORT

Boy when it decided to get hot it did it in a hurry! It won’t be long and the kids will be headed back to school.  With highs being 95 here in the coastal bend, and lows in the 80’s, it’s of the upmost importance to get your fish by mid day. With the heat the fish start getting stressed. You can really see the stress level when you release a fish this time of year.
Limits of reds as usual on my boat, but I’m going to have to sit this years September out due to having surgery at the end of August. So I’m trying to get all the fishing in as I can before September rolls around. I still have a couple of dates open if you’re interested in fishing with me.

A FISHING TRIP MAKES A GREAT GIFT ALL YEAR LONG!  ASK ABOUT OUR GIFT CERTIFICATES – OFFERED YEAR-ROUND!

I can say this folks Fishing has been crazy just like the weather we have been having! Fish hitting the baits as hard as they can and screaming drag as fast as they can go! If they went any faster than I’m sure that there would be smoke coming out of the reels.

Redfish have had a weird combination of patterns lately from really shallow to about waist deep water. Now when I’m talking shallow I mean about 10 inches of water! It doesn’t get any better when those redfish grab a bait in that shallow of water! We have been catching limits of redfish and they are some big boys at that!

Trout are still here but not in the numbers like we had a few months back. We still go after them in the mornings while it is still cool and not so hot. We are starting to transition over to piggy perch instead of croaker and they are hitting them hard and fast!

Drum have also been on the menu recently! It has been a little tougher to get them to feed but it still is working out though. The drum are sitting in about chest deep of water and you are actually able to sight cast to them!

Give us a call to get a day set up and to have a wonderful and relaxing time on the water at 361-729-8220. Capt. Aerich Oliver

SUMMERTIME 2019:

FISHING IS SO GREAT THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!!! NO FISH, NO PAY!

Summer is in full swing with a good speckled trout bite using croaker as bait early in the morning before the water heats up. We have been catching good numbers of black drum throughout the day on shrimp on bottom or sight casting larger black drum with free lined shrimp. Summer is the least windy season in Corpus Christi so it is a great time to go off-shore when the weather permits. The clear skies and low winds of summer also make it a great time to bow-fish for black drum and sheepshead. So give me a call at (313) 384-6463 to book your adventure.
